New Mercedes E Class Saloon

Vehicle Lease Management welcomes the new Mercedes E class saloon with its all new cabin and even further clever safety technology the 2016 E class is set to rival all in its class including the class topping BMW 5 series, new and improved Audi A6 and sharp driving Jaguar XF.

The new E class will come with the E220d which will be the first car to get the new four cylinder diesel engine. The 2.0 litre unit helps keep CO2 emissions as low as 102g/km which is less than any its rivals with Automatic gearbox. Mercedes are also aiming to reduce engine noise and vibration which were seen as issues with the outgoing 2.1 litre engine.

Those customers who would want to a slightly more powerful engine will see the diesel E350d (255bhp) and plug in hybrid E350e which averages 49g/km of CO2. You will also see a 395 bhp E43 AMG & eventually the chart topper V8 powered E63 later down the line.
The new E220d is also more powerful than its rivals and couple that with the 9 speed automatic gearbox you will see the car drive a lot smoothly throughout the gears. You may find that its potent overtaking skills may questions whether there is a need for anything else. The new E class is a very steady cruise and you can barely hear it at all which makes it a very nice companion on the motorway.

The driver’s position is very suited to the new Mercedes S class however slightly smaller due to its size. Mercedes offer the giant stretch display that stretches from the centre console to behind the steering wheel which is an optional extra but well worth considering, Vehicle Lease Management have noticed a lot of other cars seem to be going this way including the Audi A6 and their “virtual cockpit display” which is very similar to what Mercedes are offering here.  This is well worth considering before you place your order.

As standard all Mercedes E class come standard with a Garmin powered sat-nav system which will certainly do the job, However if you opt for the Comand system is a real step forward because changing radio station, or tapping a new destination is far easily done whilst on the move . You can also use the tiny touchpads on the steering wheel to scroll through on screen menus without taking your hands off the wheel.

You will have no issues what so ever taking 3 tall passengers even on them slightly longer journeys. There’s plenty of head/leg room in the outer 2 rear seats, and although foot space maybe a little tight because the front seats are so close to the floor, the footwells are big enough for this not to present a major problem. The only slight issue with the rear seating is that the middle seat passenger will have to straddle a fairly chunky transmission tunnel, However this is a similar story in most of its rivals too.

Officially the E class has a slightly larger boot that the A5 and 5 series, and it has easily enough space for a couple of large suitcases.
One thing’s for sure the new Mercedes E class is the best mainstream Mercedes saloon in years. Its elegant on the outside, Supremely classy inside, good to drive and well equipped, particularly on the safety front.
